Brief role description

The Business Development Manager will play a pivotal role driving the acquisition of high-value, multi-year corporate partnerships and funding agreements that deliver meaningful shared value for the organisation and its partners. Working closely with colleagues across the charity, the postholder will identify and secure new income opportunities, develop compelling partnership propositions and oversee stewardship, renewals and growth opportunities. The role is responsible for building a strong pipeline of perspective funders and partners, managing relationships with key stakeholders and contributing to the achievement of ambitious income generation targets.

Who we’re looking for

We are looking for an experienced business development professional with a strong track record of securing long-term partnerships and driving income growth. You will have experience managing income pipelines, targets and forecasts, alongside a proven ability to identify opportunities, develop compelling propositions and build strong relationships with key stakeholders.

You will be an excellent communicator with strong presentation, negotiation and influencing skills, and will be comfortable engaging senior decision-makers. You will also have experience in prospect research, networking and CRM systems.

You will bring a proactive, entrepreneurial approach, be highly self-motivated and comfortable working towards ambitious targets. As a collaborative and solutions-focused professional, you will be capable of managing competing priorities while supporting the development of others and contributing to the wider objectives of the Income Generation team.

Brief role description

The Head of Income Generation is a new and pivotal senior management role responsible for developing and delivering income generation at the Forces Employment Charity. Overseeing all income streams, including high-value fundraising, trusts and foundations, individual giving and other business development opportunities, they will work towards a multimillion-pound income target. They will also line manage a small team of three and work closely with the Director of Engagement and Income Generation and other members of the Senior Management Team to deliver ambitious income-generation plans.

Who we’re looking for

We are looking for an experienced fundraising and partnerships professional with a proven track record of securing income from trusts, foundations, corporate partners and other funding sources. You will be skilled at developing and delivering successful income generation strategies, building strong funding pipelines and achieving ambitious income targets

You will be a confident relationship builder and have experience engaging senior stakeholders, securing new partnership opportunities and developing compelling funding propositions that generate results. You will also be comfortable leading and supporting colleagues, working collaboratively across teams and identifying opportunities for growth.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of fundraising best practice, ethical fundraising and supporter stewardship, alongside experience using CRM systems. Most importantly, you will share our values, be motivated by our mission and demonstrate empathy for ex-Forces personnel and the challenges they can face.

About the Role

As a Service Engineer, you will be responsible for servicing, maintaining and repairing pumps, generators and diesel-powered equipment both within the Inverness depot and at customer locations.

This is a varied and hands-on role that combines technical expertise, fault-finding and customer interaction. You’ll be expected to work independently, manage your workload effectively and contribute to maintaining the highest standards of safety and operational performance.

The role also includes participation in a call-out rota (1 week in 4) and occasional travel to customer sites.


Key Responsibilities

  • Service, maintain and repair pumps, generators and diesel-powered equipment.
  • Diagnose faults and carry out repairs to minimise customer downtime.
  • Prepare, inspect and test equipment before deployment.
  • Carry out major overhauls and refurbishment of equipment.
  • Attend customer sites to complete servicing, repairs and breakdown support.
  • Ensure all work complies with Health & Safety legislation and company procedures.
  • Maintain accurate service records and documentation.
  • Work closely with the Service Team, Hire Controllers and Depot Management.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop environment.
  • Participate in the on-call rota and provide emergency support when required.

What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • Mechanical engineering experience.
  • Experience working with diesel engines, pumps, generators or plant equipment.
  • Relevant qualification such as:
    • NVQ Level 3
    • Mechanical & Electrical Apprenticeship
    • Equivalent Engineering Qualification
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Desirable

  • Experience within rental, construction, utilities or industrial sectors.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems and controls.

  • Generator or pump-specific experience.

About the Role

As Senior Site Agent, you will play a critical role in the successful delivery of complex civil engineering and infrastructure projects throughout the Highlands & Islands.

You will be responsible for leading site teams, coordinating subcontractors, managing resources and maintaining excellent client relationships while ensuring compliance with all safety, environmental and quality requirements.

  • Proven experience as a Senior Site Agent, Site Agent or Construction Manager within civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction methodologies and project delivery.
  • Experience managing multiple work fronts and site teams.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and industry best practice.
  • Experience managing subcontractors and client relationships.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable

About the Role

Reporting to the Contracts Manager, the Senior Project Manager will provide leadership across multiple projects or major project workstreams, ensuring successful delivery against safety, quality, programme and commercial objectives.

You will be responsible for leading multidisciplinary teams, developing client relationships, overseeing commercial performance and driving operational excellence throughout project delivery.

This role requires a strong leader capable of managing complex infrastructure projects in challenging environments while maintaining the highest standards of project execution.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the successful delivery of major transmission and infrastructure projects.
  • Manage Project Managers, Site Agents, Engineers and project delivery teams.
  • Develop and implement project delivery strategies.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on programme and within budget.
  • Maintain strong client relationships with SSEN Transmission and key stakeholders.
  • Oversee project commercial performance, forecasting and financial reporting.
  • Lead project risk management and mitigation activities.
  • Ensure compliance with all Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality requirements.
  • Manage procurement, subcontractors and supply chain partners.
  • Drive continuous improvement across project teams.
  • Support strategic business objectives through successful project delivery.
  • Mentor and develop future project leaders within the business.

What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • Proven experience as a Senior Project Manager or Project Manager delivering major civil engineering, infrastructure, utilities or energy projects.
  • Demonstrable experience managing projects valued in excess of £25m+.
  • Strong leadership and team management capability.
  • Extensive client-facing and stakeholder management experience.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and financial management skills.
  • Proven experience working under NEC contracts.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable

  • Experience delivering transmission, power, utilities or renewable energy infrastructure projects.
  • Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer, Chartered Construction Manager or equivalent professional accreditation.
  • Experience working across geographically diverse or remote project locations.
  • SMSTS qualification.
