About Wildland

Wildland Limited is an organisation dedicated to the rehabilitation of some of Scotland’s most precious landscapes. The company is the custodian of three Scottish estates: Wildland North Coast, Wildland Cairngorm, and Wildland West & Ness. Wildland has planted over four million trees in the Scottish Highlands and created the conditions to regenerate countless more – nurturing a landscape where wildlife can thrive, and nature can heal itself. Wildland also operates a number of hospitality venues across the Highlands, with all proceeds going back into our conservation efforts. Through Wildland Ventures, we also invest in businesses like the NC500 that directly contribute to local communities.

Conservation – Protecting our most valuable asset

Where once this land was teeming with life, today it cries out for help. Conservation is just a word; a word that barely encompasses the breadth of work necessary to restore these lands to their former richness, or the scale of our commitment to a more sustainable future.

Our big open spaces are disappearing at an alarming rate. The natural beauty of the Scottish Highlands has long been at risk. At Wildland, we believe in giving nature a chance to fight back.

Land Management

At Wildland we believe in nature’s own capacity to restore itself and appreciate that this is a project extending far beyond our own lifetimes.

The regeneration of this wilderness will demand timescales more likely to be enjoyed in our children’s lifetime than in ours, but we know that we can help create the conditions necessary to allow natural processes to gain a foothold. It’s a simple fact that many estates across the Highlands have populations of deer far beyond that which the ecosystem can support. Deer browse young saplings before they have any chance to establish themselves. On land where our deer management is in hand, the regeneration of habitat and woodland has been nothing short of remarkable. The heart soars when the rebirth of these lands sees wildlife return. Sounds of rivers rushing and a sight of summer swallows swooping all suggest a soul stirring with eager vitality.

Restoration

Wildland’s philosophy, its overriding mission, is very simple: we wish to restore our parts of the Scottish Highlands to their former natural splendour. And not just the land, the whole fabric of these great estates. It is our 200 year vision. Today, we have taken but the first few steps towards making this vision a reality.

Whilst nature answered only to the changing seasons, so too did man coexist in natural balance. However, we also have to accept the harsh reality that people who once worked the land have moved away. Now, though, Wildland’s fervent desire is to see local communities thrive once more and to have those who have left the Highlands come back, bringing with them all-new skills and all-new visions for the way that people can work and live here.

Old-growth forests

Working hard to maintain and develop the character and quality of Scotland’s landscapes.

Whilst, in truth, the great Caledonian Pine Forests have been eroded – by man – over the course of the last 1000 years, it is also the case that not much more than two hundred years ago, considerable parts of the Highlands were still covered with significant expanses of pine, alder, birch and juniper and a whole ecosystem of plants and wildlife that thrived in its shelter. Our goal, today, is to protect and regenerate those few remaining pockets of magnificent old-growth forest and create the conditions necessary for these trees to reassert themselves across the landscape. Since 2014, Wildland has planted five million tree saplings across its holdings within the Cairngorm region. This, in addition to the many millions of natural seedlings regenerating Caledonian Pinewoods within the core 2000 ha area.

Preservation:

Alongside our stated commitment to the preservation of the land and the human infrastructure of the Wildland estates, we increasingly find ourselves the guardians of significant parts of Scotland’s history. We see preservation as protection, restoration and renewal; the past alive for present and future generations to enjoy.

Across Wildland’s northern estates are some of the most striking brochs on the Scottish mainland. These two-thousand-year old archaeological structures demand not just our protection but also our care and attention. There’s more recent history, too. Eriboll Estate still bears the legacy of 18th century lime kilns built by one of the old Dukes of Sutherland, while Loch Eriboll was a scene of sadness a century later when a Highland Clearances ship drove into its sheltered waters to take people from the Sutherland Estates away from the land, never to return.

THE EXPERIENCE TO LEAD TRANSFORMATION

The world is changing. Constantly, quickly. Sometimes unrecognisably. How people live, learn, shop, relax, interact. And working all around the world, we embrace those changes. We design and deliver for them. Our enthusiasm for learning, and our curiosity for what’s new and what’s next means we play an important part in shaping these transformations. For the people that our projects and ideas will directly benefit, in whatever country we’re in.

After all, we design life changing architecture for people. We listen to people. To better understand them. To design better for them. And everywhere we work, we’re careful to always show the utmost respect to, and considered thought for, the local people. To their culture, their religion, their lives. We promote inclusivity and equality, social and moral responsibility, human rights and human empowerment.

We’re deadly serious about what we do, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously. Solid processes and methodical attention to detail underpins a great sense of humour. We deal with large, complex projects but we revel in the unique challenges they bring. We take pride in being extremely easy people to work with.

More freedom to create the more inspiring

Our autonomy gives us the freedom to constantly adapt. To break new ground. And energetically embrace transformational projects in several sectors around the world.  Never standing still. Never resting on our laurels. Never pigeon holed. We are relentlessly creative in how we deliver game changing, life changing architecture.

Why not get that creative mind in drive mode and join us!

Location: Civil Nuclear Constabulary F6 Culham Campus Abingdon Oxfordshire OX14 3DB

The Civil Nuclear Constabulary (CNC) is a unique armed police force, trained to College of Policing standards. Our core focus is the security of the nation’s licenced civil nuclear sites and civil nuclear material in transit in England and Scotland. Failure to deliver this is simply not an option.

As sworn police officers we are proud to be part of the wider policing family and have a duty to protect the public, both through our core role; helping to patrol the communities who live near our sites; and as a key part of the UK’s strategic armed policing reserve.

People are at the heart of the CNC. With a culture where we strive to bring out the best in each other and the wider team, we can fulfil our mission of protecting the civil nuclear sector and the UK public.

We are Team CNC and We are #ProudtoProtect

Diverse Talent Working as One – Join the Team

Our Ambition
To be recognised nationally and internationally as the leading organisation for armed policing of critical national infrastructure in the UK.

Our Mission
In partnership with the civil nuclear industry, national security agencies and regulatory bodies, the CNC will deter any attacker whose intent is the theft or sabotage of nuclear material, whether static or in transit. If an attack occurs, CNC will defend that material and deny access to it. If material is seized or high consequence facilities are compromised, the CNC will recover control of the facility and regain custody of the material.

CNC Inclusive and Engaged
We are committed to building a unified, open, and inclusive culture, working together to achieve our Mission and Ambition. We actively develop a culture of engagement and inclusivity, promoting belonging and recognising the strengths of a diverse workforce.

We value inclusivity and engagement, focusing on health, safety and wellbeing so all employees can flourish and feel trusted, valued and involved in the organisation.

Find out more about Equality, Diversity and Inclusion at the CNC on our website, including EDI data such as our Gender Pay Gap report.

Culture at the CNC
An organisation’s culture defines the proper way to behave within it. This culture consists of shared beliefs and values established by leaders and then communicated and reinforced through various methods, ultimately shaping employee perceptions, behaviours and understanding. Culture is extremely important in a police force, as we police by consent and must set the highest standards and lead by example to the public we protect and our stakeholders.

Since the shocking murder of Sarah Everard by a serving officer, trust and confidence in the police has been shaken and the police service, of which the CNC is part, has some work to do to rebuild this trust and ensure the public we serve know we will do so in a fair, professional and honest manner. The culture of the CNC is a priority and work has been ongoing for a number of months to establish what our culture is and if we need to make changes as an organisation. A number of reviews have been ongoing, including:

Cultural Review
Commissioned by CNC Chief Constable Simon Chesterman, this full cultural review was carried out by an external consultancy, who ran workshops, focus groups and individual interviews, as well as a all employee survey to give people opportunity to speak openly and honestly about our culture.

Independent internal review into culture and gender at the CNC
An independent HR Consultant undertook a full review of our culture in three phases. The key findings of this internal report were that the CNC does not have a culture that made it impossible for women to thrive and it recognised that, for many, the CNC is a rewarding, supportive and enjoyable place to work, with areas that the organisation should rightly be proud of. It also acknowledged the significant work that has been carried out across the organisation in terms of gender.

There are, of course, areas that we need to improve on including our recruitment and training practices, and we have developed a detailed integrated cultural action plan to make these improvements.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Strategy
As part of UK policing, the CNC is committed to having a workforce that reflects the diversity of the communities we serve and the stakeholder environment we operate within. A truly diverse makeup demonstrates to the public that police are there to serve everyone and this in turn builds trust. Valuing people as individuals and harnessing differences is simply the right thing to do.

Everyone deserves to be treated fairly and with respect and should not suffer disadvantage or discrimination because of who they are. Diversity in our workforce means we have people from different backgrounds and with different personal circumstances bringing a wide range of experiences and perspectives which enables us to perform better as a team. With the diversity of experiences within our workforce we will enjoy insight, innovation, and improvements. The EDI Strategy outlines our aims and vision in this area and how we will achieve a fully inclusive workplace for all.

Gender Responsive Policing Strategy
Alongside this, the CNC was proud to launch our Gender Responsive Policing Strategy – the first of its kind across policing in the UK.

The strategy sets out the clear vision for the CNC to be a gender responsive police force with a fully inclusive workforce. We are committed to embracing all gender identities, ensure we all practice inclusive behaviours and challenge harmful practices and views that damage both the individual experiencing them and the organisation as a whole.

HMICFRS Inspection
The Civil Nuclear Constabulary requested to be one of the eight forces who took part in His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services (HMICFRS) review of vetting, misconduct, and misogyny in the police service, which was commissioned by the Home Office. Their report was published in November 2022 and was highly critical of the police service as a whole, making a total of 43 recommendations across five areas.

Read the HMICFRS report

The report clearly shows that police vetting, misconduct and misogyny are an issue across the police service, and we continue to work with our national and Home Office counterparts, including the HMICFRS, College of Policing and National Police Chief’s Council to ensure lessons are learnt from the report and vetting and misconduct practices are tightened across the board. We have already taken steps since the inspection took place and are determined to raise standards, both in vetting and misconduct, and ensure any officers with sexist or misogynistic views are rooted out. They have no place at the CNC or in UK policing.

Our Values

The CNC is closely aligned to the nationally recognised values and principles within the Code of Ethics. These provide a consistent, transparent foundation upon which we can continue to strengthen and develop all our people-related activities. This framework ensures that there are a set of clear expectations for everyone working across all ranks and grades within the CNC.

  • Proud

We are proud to deliver high quality armed policing. We are committed to protecting the public and to our core role of keeping the nation’s civil nuclear material safe.

As individuals and as part of a wider organisation, we have a responsibility to ensure that we act in the best interests of the public as a whole. Improving the safety and wellbeing of the public underpins all that we do.

We are dedicated to working in the public interest, engaging and listening to their needs and concerns. We work to make sure that the public feel valued and engaged, which helps build confidence in the service we provide.

  • Agile

We are match fit and ready to respond, both through our core role and by supporting the UK’s armed surge capability. Remaining ready and agile is a whole team effort.

We are genuine with those we communicate with and endeavour to create trusting relationships. We accept feedback and are comfortable in responding to criticism and finding ways to improve.

We constantly think about how to create the best possible outcomes for those we serve and take personal responsibility for delivering this.

  • Inclusive

Regardless of background, everyone is equal and has a vital part to play in helping us achieve our ambition. Equality, inclusivity and fairness are at the heart of everything we do.

As a police service, we must show impartiality throughout our dealings with colleagues, stakeholders and members of the public. We consider the different sides of a situation and ensure that each side is given equal consideration. We do not favour one person or group over another, acknowledging that discrimination increases feelings of unfairness and makes our jobs harder to do. We must not allow personal feelings, beliefs or opinions to unfairly influence our actions in any situation.

We are clear in our rationale for the decisions or actions we take, ensuring they are clear and evidence-based.

  • Ambitious

Our strengths lie in armed policing and world-class firearms training. Our ambition is to be recognised nationally and internationally as the United Kingdom’s leading organisation for the provision of Armed Policing Protective Services.

We understand and reinforce expectations of professional behaviour and openly recognise good and bad performance. We also maintain the highest levels of professionalism, making sure that we always uphold the values and ethical standards of the police service.

We need to build and maintain the confidence of the public, colleagues and stakeholders if we are to deliver a modern and effective Armed Policing Protective Service.

Code of Ethics

The aim of the Code of Ethics produced by the College of Policing is to support each member of the policing profession to deliver the highest professional standards in their service to the public.

9 Policing Principles

The principles underpin and strengthen existing procedures and regulations for ensuring standards of professional behaviour for both police officers and police staff. They should also underpin every decision and action across policing, being used in day to day operations as interventions are planned and debriefed, in the selection of new staff, in educational and development programmes, in annual reviews and in promotion. The principles must be more than just words on a page and must become embedded in the way police professionals think and behave.

Honesty – You are truthful and trustworthy

Objectivity – You make choices on evidence and your best professional judgement

Integrity – You always do the right thing

Openness – You are open and transparent in your actions and decisions

Accountability – You are answerable for your decisions, actions and omissions

Respect – You treat everyone with respect

Fairness – You treat people fairly

Selflessness – You act in the public interest

Leadership – You lead by good example

Affinity Networks

A diverse workforce means our team has a wider range of skills, abilities and experiences. This helps us to be more effective and agile in the service we provide, and represent the communities we serve and work within.

The CNC has a number of Affinity Networks, whose aim is to provide social, moral and professional support to our diverse team.

Careers with MacGregor’s Industrial Supplies

We value enthusiasm, strong work ethics, and a commitment to great service. Skills can be learned, but the right mindset is key. We thrive on teamwork, trust, and respect — building strong relationships with colleagues, customers, and suppliers.

Our five company values are at the heart of everything we do. They are more than words on a wall – they shape how we work, how we treat each other, and how we deliver for our customers:

  • Do the Right Thing – We believe trust is earned through integrity, respect, and fairness. By doing what’s right, even when it’s difficult, we build lasting relationships with our customers, partners, and each other.
  • Be the Best – We take pride in what we do and constantly strive to improve. Our reputation is built on quality, and every colleague plays a part in raising the bar.
  • Customer First – Our customers are at the centre of our decisions. By understanding their needs and going the extra mile, we create experiences that keep them coming back.
  • Community Spirit – We know that success is a team effort. Through collaboration, connection, and support, we create an environment where everyone belongs and contributes to something bigger.
  • Future Focus – The world is changing, and so are we. We embrace innovation, adaptability, and resilience to ensure we stay ahead – for our colleagues, customers, and communities.

These values are important because they define who we are and how we succeed together. They guide our decisions, shape our culture, and help every colleague feel proud to be part of our journey.

Where you could find your next role

Location: Leonard Cheshire, 66 South Lambeth Road, London, England

Our history

On 22 May 1948, former RAF pilot Leonard Cheshire took a dying man, who had nowhere else to go, into his home.

With no money, Leonard nursed the man himself in his home of Le Court in Hampshire. They became friends and this act of kindness prompted more people to go to Leonard for help. People were keen to share a home with others and support each other.

By the summer of 1949, his home had 24 residents with complex needs, illnesses and impairments. As awareness of Leonard’s work spread he started to receive referrals.

NHS waiting lists for urgent care

New NHS hospitals struggled to cope with waiting lists of people needing urgent care. Disabled people were at the bottom of the list of NHS priorities at the time. People were often left to manage on their own, or to rely on others to help them get through each day.

The growth of services for people with disabilities

As Le Court became established, people started to champion the need for similar homes in their communities. Interest in these services was not limited to the UK. International communities also sought these services. The establishment of Leonard Cheshire as a charity had begun.

By 1955, there were five homes in the UK. The first overseas project began outside Mumbai, India.

The 1960s saw rapid expansion. By 1970 there were:

  • Over 50 services in the UK.
  • Five services in India.
  • Activities in 21 other countries around the world.

Care in the community

By the 1970s, we were established as a pioneering provider of care services. We began to diversify and a trial for care in the community was launched in the UK south coast.

Working with us

Our mission is to ensure disabled people have the freedom to live their lives the way they choose. We are always on the look out for talented and committed individuals to join our team and we offer a wide range of careers across different departments and locations.

Why work for us?

For more than 70 years, we have championed the rights of disabled people. We open doors to opportunity and break down barriers that deny disabled people their basic rights.

What will you be doing?

Wherever you are, you could be supporting people in our services with assistive technology or be working on a national campaign to raise awareness of the issues impacting disabled people.

What’s it like?

We have great people working for us and we’re always looking for ways to improve. We ensure a diverse, inclusive, and collaborative work environment that you can be proud to be part of.

Our values

We are the leader in enriching the lives of disabled people.

Our founder, Leonard Cheshire, laid the foundations of our work today in May 1948, when he took a dying man into his home and nursed him by himself. From these roots, we have led the way in establishing effective ways of supporting disabled people, currently reaching over 20,000 disabled people over our global operations.

Change takes commitment

Working to ensure a better world for disabled people is rewarding but we can’t make that change without empowering you. These are some of the ways we support you to succeed.

    • Flexible working is more than a policy – it’s a commitment to how we can support a good balance between your personal and professional life. We’re well aware of how this positively impacts our employees and we are committed to supporting you in any way we can.
    • We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace. We want to attract and develop employees regardless of their race, sexual orientation, religion, age, gender, disability status, or any other aspect of diversity. A diverse workplace is a thriving workplace and we constantly push to go further.
    • Learning and development starts from day one. We are committed to employee development, and can offer accredited qualifications through the apprenticeship levy and other funding. Our Learning and Development Advisors are on hand to help you every step of the way to further your career development.

Celebrating diversity

Our Staff Networks are run by staff, for staff. They provide a supportive environment for discussion, networking and learning. Together, colleagues across the organisation drive change for a more inclusive workplace.

Each network hosts meetings, campaigns and events to raise awareness and celebrate diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

  • Disability Employee Network

    • The Disability Employee Network (DEN) seeks to champion and amplify the voices of all disabled employees.
  • Cultural Diversity and Inclusion Network

    • The Cultural Diversity and Inclusion (CDI) Network celebrates cultural diversity and promotes inclusion. It’s a community for colleagues from diverse ethnic backgrounds as well as those colleagues who have a positive interest in driving forward racial equality at Leonard Cheshire.
  • Women’s Network

    • The Women’s Network promotes gender equality and celebrates all women across the organisation.
  • Pride Network

    • The Pride Network works to promote the rights of those identifying as LGBTQI+ to live and work free from discrimination and celebrate their diversity.
