EquallyPlaced is delighted to be partnering with RJ McLeod (Contractors) Ltd to recruit an experienced Senior Project Manager for one of Scotland’s most significant energy infrastructure projects.

This is an exceptional opportunity to lead the delivery of a major section of the SSEN Transmission Fort Augustus to Skye 132kV Reinforcement Project, a vital investment that will strengthen the electricity network, support renewable energy generation, and help deliver Scotland’s net-zero ambitions.

Based on the stunning Isle of Skye, you will take overall responsibility for the successful planning, management and delivery of a major civil engineering and infrastructure package, ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, programme performance and client satisfaction.

About the Project

The Fort Augustus to Skye Reinforcement Project is a strategic transmission upgrade that will increase network resilience and capacity across the Highlands and Islands.

The works involve major civil engineering activities, infrastructure construction, environmental management, stakeholder engagement and the coordination of multidisciplinary project teams in a challenging and rewarding environment.

The Role

Reporting to the Contracts Manager, you will provide leadership across all aspects of project delivery, ensuring the project is delivered safely, efficiently and profitably.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the successful delivery of a major infrastructure project from commencement through to completion.
  • Manage project teams, site management, engineers and subcontractors.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental and quality requirements.
  • Develop and maintain project programmes and delivery plans.
  • Monitor project performance, budgets and commercial outcomes.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with SSEN Transmission and key stakeholders.
  • Manage project risks and opportunities.
  • Oversee procurement and resource planning activities.
  • Lead project meetings and reporting requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement and operational excellence across the project.

What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • Proven experience in a Senior Project Manager position within civil engineering, infrastructure, utilities, energy or major construction projects.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Experience managing large-scale projects valued in excess of £20m+.
  • Excellent client-facing and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Strong commercial awareness and budget management experience.
  • Knowledge of NEC contracts.
  • Demonstrable experience delivering projects safely and successfully.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable

  • Experience within transmission, power, energy or utility infrastructure projects.
  • Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related discipline.
  • Experience working within remote or environmentally sensitive locations.

About the Role

As Director of Finance and Resources, you will report directly to the Chief Executive and work closely with the Board of Trustees, leading the charity’s Finance, HR, Infrastructure, Legal, and Governance functions.
