EquallyPlaced is delighted to be partnering with RJ McLeod (Contractors) Ltd to recruit a Site Agent to support the delivery of major SSEN Transmission infrastructure projects across the Highlands & Islands.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a long-term programme of works valued at up to £700 million through to 2035, helping to deliver critical infrastructure that will strengthen Scotland’s electricity network and support the transition to renewable energy.
As Site Agent, you will play a key role in managing site operations, coordinating teams and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standards of quality.
About the Role
Reporting to the Senior Site Agent and Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day construction activities across a variety of transmission and civil engineering projects.
You will ensure works are delivered in accordance with programme requirements, client expectations and RJ McLeod’s commitment to safety, quality and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily site operations and construction activities.
- Supervise Site Engineers, Supervisors and subcontractors.
- Ensure all works are carried out safely and in compliance with Health & Safety legislation.
- Coordinate labour, plant, materials and resources.
- Monitor project progress against programme milestones.
- Maintain accurate site records, diaries and documentation.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, local authorities and stakeholders.
- Assist with planning and sequencing of construction activities.
- Support cost control and commercial reporting.
- Ensure quality standards and environmental requirements are achieved.
- Identify and manage project risks and opportunities.
- Promote a positive safety and performance culture across site teams.
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Experience as a Site Agent, Section Engineer or Senior Engineer within civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of construction and project delivery methodologies.
- Experience managing site teams and subcontractors.
- Good knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and industry best practice.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
- Experience working on transmission, utilities, renewable energy or major infrastructure projects.
- HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
- SMSTS qualification.
- Temporary Works Coordinator experience.
- First Aid qualification.
- Knowledge of NEC contracts.
