EquallyPlaced is delighted to be supporting RJ McLeod (Contractors) Ltd in the recruitment of an experienced Senior Site Agent to join their growing team delivering major SSEN Transmission infrastructure projects across the Highlands & Islands.
This is a fantastic opportunity to take a leading role on a long-term programme of works valued at up to £700 million through to 2035, supporting the development of critical energy infrastructure that will strengthen Scotland’s electricity network and help deliver the UK’s net-zero ambitions.
Working alongside Project Managers, Engineers and Site Teams, you will be responsible for managing major sections of work, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on programme and to the highest standards of quality.
About the Role
As Senior Site Agent, you will play a critical role in the successful delivery of complex civil engineering and infrastructure projects throughout the Highlands & Islands.
You will be responsible for leading site teams, coordinating subcontractors, managing resources and maintaining excellent client relationships while ensuring compliance with all safety, environmental and quality requirements.
This role offers the opportunity to work on some of Scotland’s most significant transmission and energy infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage site operations across major infrastructure projects.
- Manage and mentor Site Agents, Site Engineers and Supervisors.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget.
- Develop and manage construction programmes and short-term work schedules.
- Coordinate labour, plant, materials and subcontractors.
- Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality standards.
- Maintain accurate project records and reporting documentation.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, local authorities and key stakeholders.
- Support commercial management, cost control and change management processes.
- Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Drive continuous improvement and operational excellence across project teams.
- Promote a strong safety culture throughout all project activities.
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Proven experience as a Senior Site Agent, Site Agent or Construction Manager within civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies and project delivery.
- Experience managing multiple work fronts and site teams.
- Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
- Strong knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and industry best practice.
- Experience managing subcontractors and client relationships.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
- Experience working on transmission, utilities, renewable energy or major infrastructure projects.
- HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
- SMSTS qualification.
- Temporary Works Coordinator experience.
- Knowledge of NEC contracts.
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status (or working towards accreditation).
